Three Takeaways: Dolphins sweep Jets in dominant fashion

The Dolphins matched their most lopsided win of the 2025 season with a 34-10 win over the Jets Sunday at MetLife Stadium. The 24-point margin matches the Week 8 score, a victory over the Atlanta Falcons, as Miami swept the New York Jets for the fourth time in six seasons.

Miami leaned on dominant trench play, explosives from the running backs and nine defensive splash plays to secure their fourth-consecutive victory.

1. Three-headed monster

The Dolphins entered Week 14 riding a three-game winning streak piloted by a dominant ground-game. Miami unfurled its best rushing performance of the year en route to a fourth-straight win.

Running back De'Von Achane eclipsed 100 yards from scrimmage on just eight touches. It marked the eighth time this season he's surpassed the century mark in yards from scrimmage.

The Dolphins flexed their versatility when Achane exited the game in the second quarter due to injury.

Second-year tailback Jaylen Wright recorded the first 100-yard game of his career with a downhill, convicted running style that left the Jets defense searching for answers.

"My favorite part of coaching guys isn't when everything is going well. Jaylen (Wright) had expectations going into the season, and it didn't start off totally the way I think he kind of pictured it," Head Coach Mike McDaniel said. "But what did he do through that, he focused on finding ways to contribute in any way, whether that be special teams or getting reps, not only on the live action units, but also as a look team and really focused. And the last couple weeks, his game has been as good as I've seen it since he's been here."

Wright finished with a career-best 107 rushing yards and his first career touchdown.

Achane and Wright both eclipsed 90 rushing yards, marking the first time since the famed wildcat game in 2008 that the Dolphins had a pair of running backs rush for more than 90 yards in the same game.

Rookie Ollie Gordon II made it a running back hat trick when he powered over the goal line for a fourth-quarter touchdown. All three running backs found the end zone amid a 239-yard day for the dominant Dolphins ground game. It was the fifth time in franchise history that three running backs ran for touchdowns and the first time since 1978.

2. Trenchant dominance

The Dolphins win streak started in Week 10 with a 30-13 win over Buffalo. Since that game, Miami is averaging 192.3 rushing yards per game 鈥 most in the NFL by nearly 20 yards per contest. The backs continue chewing up yardage behind a dominant offensive line that asserted its will on Sunday.

The scheme was diverse and the effort consistent. Patrick Paul, Jonah Savaiinaea, Aaron Brewer, Cole Strange and Austin Jackson all played with a blend of athleticism and feel for space, paired with a rugged mentality that frequently reset the line of scrimmage several yards downfield.

"I think everyone being on the same page and us going out there and wanting to dominate people," Paul said. "Not just block them and fit them up, but to really dominate folks. Just the energy we're bringing towards the run game now is what's correlating to that."

The Dolphins defensive line followed the lead of their counterparts. The Jets ran the ball 17 times for just 65 yards, an average of 3.8 yards per carry.

3. Defensive splash

The dominant run defense created chances for splash plays. Defensive Coordinator Anthony Weaver's unit took full advantage with nine plays resulting in interceptions or sacks. Just as they did in Week 4 against the Jets, the Dolphins turned New York over three times. Across a two-game sweep of their rivals, the Dolphins won the turnover battle by an aggregate score of 6-0.

Linebacker Tyrel Dodson and cornerback Ethan Bonner secured interceptions while cornerback Rasul Douglas picked off his second pass in as many games. The majority of the defense got into the stat sheet as Miami sacked Jets quarterbacks six times, a season high.

Defensive tackle Zach Sieler had his breakout game of the 2025 season with 2.5 sacks, a career high. Linebacker Chop Robinson recoded a sack in his second-straight game when he stripped Jets quarterback Brady Cook of the ball.

The Jets gained just 207 yards and converted only one of 12 third-down opportunities. The Dolphins held the Jets to just 10 points, marking the fourth-consecutive game in which they've allowed 17 points or less.
