A brand-new season of Dolphins football is around the corner and we're getting you ready for the start of training camp!
Over the next two weeks, we'll be looking at the entirety of the Dolphins 91-man roster and providing a cheat sheet for when the action begins at the Baptist Health Training Complex.
Quarterbacks
The Dolphins made major changes to the quarterback room ahead of the 2025 season despite the core remaining the same. Starter Tua Tagovailoa and Quarterbacks Coach Darrell Bevell return, but they'll be joined by three new faces this summer.
The Cast (In numerical order):
- 0 Zach Wilson
- 1 Tua Tagovailoa
- 14 Quinn Ewers
- 16 Brett Gabbert
Miami has enjoyed stability at the quarterback position since drafting Tagovailoa fifth overall in 2020. The accolades have come quick for the team captain. He ranks in the top five in franchise history in most major passing categories and is racing down Bob Griese's stronghold on second position behind Dan Marino's seemingly untouchable marks.
Tagovailoa's numbers are undeniable. Whether it's his record as a starter (38-24), the counting stats (only QB in the NFL with a passer rating over 100.0 each of the last three seasons), or the advanced metrics (fourth in EPA per play since 2022, trailing only Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen and Brock Purdy). His evolution as a professional generates a linear progression as does his mastery of the position, which is recognized by his peers.
"I think that he knows the offense so well and his ability to anticipate throws is fun to watch," said rookie quarterback Quinn Ewers. "He's throwing to guys before they even enter the window. They are three yards behind a linebacker, but he knows exactly where these guys are going to come and where these guys are going to go."
Ewers is one of three newcomers in the room behind Tagovailoa. His familiarity with the offense comes from his time playing at Texas under Head Coach Steve Sarkisian, one of Tagovailoa's play callers in college. Ewers threw 68 touchdowns compared to just 24 interceptions across 37 starts for the Longhorns.
Another fresh face in the quarterbacks room is free agent acquisition Zach Wilson . A former No. 2 overall pick of the New York Jets, Wilson spent last season in Denver after three years in the Big Apple.
"We felt like Zach (Wilson) had a lot of potential and a lot of talent," General Manager Chris Grier said. "We felt that, in talking to him and some veterans, that he was the right fit and right choice for us because we do think that his skill set fits what our offense does."
Miami also added Brett Gabbert to the room. Undrafted out of Miami of Ohio, Gabbert started 53 games across six seasons for the Redhawks.
The Dolphins will be back on the field later this month for training camp, and you can be in the stands at the Baptist Health Training Complex starting Saturday, July 26. Parking and admission are free, but tickets must be reserved. Learn more here.
