What they're saying: Jon-Eric Sullivan

The Ƶ announced Friday that they have agreed to terms with Jon-Eric Sullivan as the team's new general manager, bringing more than two decades of scouting and player evaluation experience to the organization.

The NFL media landscape has weighed in on the new Dolphins GM.

Jonathan Jones is the Lead NFL Insider for NFL on CBS. He says Sullivan's scouting background and consistent success in the NFL Draft were big draws for Miami:

ESPN's Dan Orlovsky said Sullivan's experience throughout the years and his involvement in acquiring key personnel makes him an appealing choice:

Industry expert and insider Andrew Brandt had about the hire:

Solid guy, highly skilled player evaluator. From the Ron Wolf/Ted Thompson scouting tree, a scout's scout. Dolphins got a good one.

The Athletic's Diana Russini and what the Dolphins are getting in Jon-Eric Sullivan:

Sullivan has been with the Packers for more than two decades, first as a scouting intern in 2003 before working his way up to director of college scouting, co-director of player personnel and, most recently, vice president of player personnel. He's a trusted voice for general manager Brian Gutekunst, who probably isn't surprised he's losing one of his top assistants. Sullivan is the son of former NFL coach Jerry Sullivan, who was the Dolphins' wide receivers coach in 2004, among other stops as a coordinator and position coach in the league.

"Jon-Eric's a huge part of our process," Gutekunst said during the draft in April. "Certainly someone that I've worked with for a very long time and leaned on for a lot of things. He's absolutely 100 percent ready to run his own show, and I think that time's coming. We'll enjoy every minute we have with him. If he's here for as long as I'm here, that's great."

SI's Albert Breer highlighted the impressive list of executives the Packers have produced over the years, which includes new Dolphins GM Jon-Eric Sullivan:

ESPN's Adam Schefter and NFL Network's Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero were among the first to break the news. They, along with others around the league, weighed in on Sullivan's reputation around the league. Here's how the news broke Friday around the NFL's media landscape:
